Our itinerary: Photowalk: Butterfly photography - This is open to all skill and equipment level.
Scene: You're in a garden, wind blowing, sweating like a pig with bugs feasting on your flesh... It's all too familiar. This Brookside Garden exhibit will offer an alternative to the traditional outdoor butterfly photography with bountiful opportunities to chase these winged critters in a semi controlled environment.
We'll tag-up afterward for lunch.

Beginning in early May and running daily through Mid- September 2009, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 p.m., Brookside Gardens South Conservatory will feature live butterflies. Come witness the butterfly life cycle as tiny eggs hatch into crawling, chewing caterpillars, which then encase themselves in jewel-like chrysalides and emerge as sipping, flying adult butterflies. Learn about the best annual and tropical plants, and hardy shrubs that are used as nectar sources to attract butterflies to your own garden
Admission: $6
Camera equipment: Macro and telephoto lens. Point and shoot are always welcomed.
Directions: From I-270 and points west, take exit 4A, Montrose Road east, which turns into Randolph Road. Go approximately 7 miles and turn right onto Glenallan Avenue.From I-495, the Capital Beltway, take Exit 31A (north on Georgia Ave./Rt. 97) toward Wheaton. Drive three miles north on Georgia Avenue to Randolph Road and turn right. At the second traffic light turn right onto Glenallan Avenue.
Brookside Gardens Visitors Center, located 3/8 mile on the right at 1800 Glenallan Avenue. Turn right at the 4-way stop at the stone entrance.
Brookside Gardens Conservatory, located ½ mile on the right at 1500 Glenallan Avenue.
